08th May 2010,
Last row, Coronet. Never wanted these classrooms to go away from our life. Never wanted these tedious yet beautiful hours to come to an end. We have spent a few of the most charming days of our youth inside these walls. It’s hard to bid goodbye to classrooms. Though we were unable to realize the swift passing of four long years, am sure, each moment has carved a beautiful mark in the deepest cavities of our hearts. The group studies (only group ‘discussions’ and no studies), exam stress, bringing a shipload of printouts for compre exams, believing in solution sets and the best of all i.e. paper distribution which sent shivers down our spines (mainly network & algorithm papers – seemed to be devil-incarnate). Apart from all these dramas, each Saturday has been a celebration. We have enjoyed the Saturdays more than any day of the week. Being with friends all through the day, sitting in the last row and being least bothered about what’s being taught in the class, mass-bunking, proxy attendance, enjoyable time during coffee & lunch breaks, chatting sweet nothings in the bus bay in the evenings and many such joyous moments will soon become memories. Our friends have already occupied a lot of our memory and yet there is an abundant space in our hearts to house the relentless waves of fond memories. Many things remind us of our friends. One instance is that a few years ago, I hardly knew any person in Chennai but now whenever I go around the city, each locality reminds me of my friends living there. I cannot forget to mention that when I travel in a local train, each suburb that I cross brings limitless memories of my friends and the unforgettable moments we shared together. Before I go gaga on the emotions, it’s worth writing about a few of the heavyweights of our classroom. Let me begin the list with Mr.AB. I am not referring to any of the Bachchans here but our very own Avinash Bharadwaj. A walking database, his answers, explanations have thrilled few of the best minds in the academy. Sometimes his answers, justifications neither have been understood by us nor by the professors but have always helped us to raise from slumber. Next in the list is Prasanna. His brilliance at studies is distinguished. His special talent lies in puzzling the professors with his questions. Most famous of his questions is “What is an interface?” he asked to the STM professor. Aravind, one of the toppers and a cool chap from my row always responds something relevant to the questions posed to my row’s friends and saves our dignity thereby. Radha, a name few professors are actually afraid of. She is better known by the epithet ‘Jhansi ki rani’ of our batch because of her sheer boldness she displays in her conversations in class and the majestic way in which she carries herself. Enters Vijay, a guy who is very enthusiastic in nature and works very hard to achieve. Not only that, he is always surrounded by good-looking girls. Such a magnetic personality! And, we invariably envy him for that! I might end up writing a thesis if I were to write about each & every friend starting from Agila to Zahid (A to Z) of our batch. But this would seem incomplete without mentioning about the Mokke community, handsome mapillais of our batch, Priya’s charisma, Soumya’s friendship, SP’s warm hug, Rohit’s Wassup!, Dhinakar’s simplicity, Remo Arun, Prince of Calicut-Dinoop (he says so), Durga’s accent, Lara’s cool attitude, Poori’s laughter, Manda’s charm, Badhru’s innovation, Shanmuga’s gentleness, Banu’s gang, Kolathur gang, Ramya’s amusing conversation style, Jayshree’s melody, Jaishree & Madhu’s comedy, Funny guy Ravin, Vijay kumar’s mimicry, Raji’s eyes, Srilatha’s calmness, Srilakshmi’s fashion, Mr.Yo-Yo Ravi, Ganesh ‘Padaiyappa’, creative duo Bhuvana & Sharan, Kavitha’s dimples, Sindhu’s smile, Mary’s hairstyle, Sabyasachi ‘pav bhaji’, F1 crazy-Venky and beautiful faces from the Manchester of Tamilnadu & neighboring states (my heart throngs to write about some of the junior beauties) and the list goes on and on. I know I’ve missed many names. Well, well, well! Each semester has been a battle. Some ruled right from the beginning. Some of us were hurt at times yet we all fought for a glorious victory. As the war is ending, we are now a few days away to reap the bounties & rewards and enjoy the beautiful times ahead. So far our destinies have been the same and the goals were similar. Now on, many things may change including our tags and positions. The challenge that remains in the midst of all the dramas in life is our commitment to be together. Let us not become ‘Just a name’ in our mobile phone directories. Let us call & meet each other often. I am sure friendship’s invisible bond will hold us tight and together for the days to come. Keep in touch at all times. I love you all very much! Happy friendship day in advance!
